New NGO Status Widens MWAI Reach in Malawi

 

Miske Witt & Associates Inc. (MWAI) has been certified by the nation of Malawi as a nongovernmental

organization (NGO), allowing fuller application of the firm's international education development skills

and experience across the country.

 

 

The NGO designation from the Non Governmental Organisation Board of Malawi broadens MWAI's

ongoing participation in developing good schools. It also qualifies the firm as a member of the

Council for Non Governmental Organisations in Malawi.

 

 

NGO registration permits MWAI to employ staff in Malawi and to design and implement projects of its

own as a full contractor. Until now, MWAI's work has been primarily as a subcontractor, helping other

organizations implement projects.

 

 

 

MWAI's current projects include supporting the USAID-funded Malawi Early Grade Reading

 

 

Improvement Activity, known as MERIT, through a gender integration and safe learning spaces

 

 

approach; and Engaging Communities and Schools in Support of Adolescent Girls in Malawi

 

 

(ECSSAGEM). ECSSAGEM is funded by the Dubai Cares and Echidna Giving foundations

 

 

under the "Partnership to Strengthen Innovation and Practice in Secondary Education" (PSIPSE)

 

 

initiative.
